Indian Yoga Culture


Yoga, as an essential part of Hinduism, has been practiced in India for centuries as a way of freeing the mind, body & spirit. In recent years, yoga has also become popular in the west, inspiring increasing numbers of people to come and study yoga in India in traditional setting.

India traditional yoga, which is a synthesis of Ashtanga and Hatha yoga.

This divine tradition was founded by “AdiShankaracharya.”

He is well known Yoga Master and Guru who united all sects in India and guided the various traditions. He propagated the philosophy of Advait Vedanta. The Brahmin is everywhere, in everyone and in everything. The oneness of all was his message.

He was a great visionary who established the DashnamiSannyasa tradition in order to unify various Hindu groups and unite the spiritual aspirants to live a disciplined yogic life. His aim to teach yoga to all the sections in the society.

Swami SatyanandaSaraswati

He  was born on 1923 in a small town of Almora in U.P. He met his Guru Swami ShivanandaSaraswati in 1934 in Rishikesh and adopted Sannyasa way of life. In 1955 he left his guru’s ashram to live as a wandering mendicant and later founded the International Yoga Fellowship in 1963 and the Bihar School of Yoga in 1964.

He founded Sivananda math in 1987, a charitable institution for rural development, and the Yoga Research foundation. In 1988 he renounced his mission, adopting KshetraSannyasa and now lives as a ParamhansaSannayasin.

The Great Yoga Guru Paramhamsa Swami Satyananda, a life which inspired millions on the path of yoga, took mahasamadhi at midnight on the 5th of december 2009. He called his disciple, Swami Satsangi and told her that it was time for him to enter into mahasamadhi. He then sat down in Padmasana and left the body.

When a powerful yoga guru takes samadhi like Swamiji has taken, his blessings and energies become a million times more powerful. Anyone following his message and life teachings gains a lot of inspiration and positive energy by his blessings.

Swami NiranjananandSaraswati

He  joined the Bihar School of Yoga in the age of 4 and was initiated into DashnamiSannyasa at the age of 10. From 1971 he traveled overseas and toured many countries for the next 11 years. In 1983 he was recalled to India and appointed President of Bihar School of Yoga.

During the following 11 years he guided the development of Ganga Darshan, Shivananda Math and the Yoga Research Foundation. In 1990 he was initiated as a Paramahamsa and in 1993 anointed Preceptor in succession to Swami Satyananda. Bihar Yoga Bharati was founded under his direction in 1994. He has authored over 20 books and guides, national and international yoga programs.

YogacharyaVishwasMandlik – Guruji

Yogacharya started his career as a Engineer but after working there for 12 years eventually he started his own business in Nasik in 1978, expanding to Pune and Aurangabad in next few years. While he was looking after his business, he started Yoga VidyaGurukul in 1978, utilizing the morning and evening hours for the noble cause of Yoga Education.

As his life mission he adopt yoga in 1995. Today Yoga VidyaGurukul is one of the big yoga institutes in India. He has authored more than 18 books and over 50 audio cds, 2 software on Yoga Education, applications of Yoga, Yoga as a Therapy, Yoga for Kids, Women etc. He writes for Yoga Magazine called “Yoga Sugandha” for the last 25 years.

B.K. S. Iyengar

The person who genuinely explains the meaning of Yoga sutras. He is one of the leading Yoga personalities in the world and popularise yoga across globe.  YogacharyaIyengar’s style of teaching Yoga is unique and termed as ‘Iyengar Yoga’. B. K. S. Iyengar has command over Yogasanas, in fact, has the authority over asanas. He has written many books on Yoga Philosophy such as ‘Light on Yoga’, ‘Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali’, ‘Patanjali Yoga Sutra Paricay’, etc. He is the recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He comes under 100 most Influential People in the World in 2004.

A lots of Indian yoga guru born and carried the culture of yoga and spread it over the world. Today yoga works when doctor fails to treatment like paralysis of patients.  So adopt it to make in India disease free.
